About the campaign

On Tuesday December 21, Wolmerian David (Stimo) Stimpson, the Curator of the National Museum of Jamaica, was attacked and stabbed multiple times by a co-worker while at his work at the Institute of Jamaica in Kingston, Jamaica. He remains at UHWI hospital in Jamaica and at this time is paralyzed with minimal mobility below the neck. The immediate urgent focus is to get David into rehab quickly to recover any mobility that is available. This is time critical as the opportunity for any muscle development and control to return will get harder as the muscles atrophy. The Sir John Golding Rehabilitation Center (formerly Mona Rehab) in Jamaica has a wait time that runs about a year. Because this is time critical, overseas treatment options in the United States are also being explored, which would be more costly, but would give him the best chance of some recovery.
So, we are seeking your support in any way you can.

Stimo represented Wolmer's in football (a member of the 82 Manning Cup Team and Walker Cup finalists), cricket, and field hockey. A softer spoken and more laid-back person you could never find. Which is why this senseless attack comes as such a huge shock. Stimo is down to earth with no airs. Regularly seen riding his bicycle to and from work at the national museum in Jamaica, with his guitar strapped to his back. He studied in Europe and Mexico before returning to work in his beloved Jamaica. Stimo curated many highly acclaimed cultural exhibitions including a recent one on Jamaican Rastafarian culture.

David did not ask for this. This effort was birthed out of compassion and a desire to help our brother and fellow Wolmerian, as well as support his wife and daughter in this difficult time. The fundraising campaign is being coordinated with the Stimpson family who are aware and fully engaged in the process.
